GENIEVA KOLB BAKER
May 29, 1995

Died on Monday, May 29, 1995 at 3:55 AM at her residence. She was a native of Ruston and a resident of Baton Rouge for 49 years. She was retired from East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, having taught for 20 years. Visiting at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home on Thursday from 9-.30 AM until 12:30 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, conducted by Fr. Eric Gyan. Internment In Roselawn Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, George Paul Baker, Sr.; four daughters, Geneva Diane Baker Cornwell, Trenton, LF, Allyson Baker Forman, Valerie Baker-Bekkaye, both of Baton Rouge and Elena Baker Takacs, Alpharetta GA; three sons, George Paul Baker, Jr. and Robert Michael Baker, both of Denham Springs and Warren Niles Baker, Springfield LA; Three sisters, Alline K. Kolb, Delhi, LA, Marguerite K Whitney, Baton Rouge and Virginia S. Wallace of Houston TX; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews’ 16 grandchildren and 9 step-grandchildren; proceeded in death by her parents, Rachel Louisiana Anderson and Robert Manning Kolb; Three Brothers, J.T. Kolb, Allison Ray Kolb and Reese Marlin Kolb.  She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church from its inception.  In lieu of flowers contributions to the American Cancer Society preferred.

She was a graduate of LSU with a BA in Arts and Sciences, Masters in Education and Masters in Social Welfare.  She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Who’s Who of Paris, National League of Pen Women, Inc. and the Poetry Society.  She was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Diploma from the Two Thousand Women of Achievement, London, England.  She was an artist, among her works were sculptures, murals and stained glass in St. Charles Borromeo, at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, mosaics in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Maringouin, murals in Santa Appolonia, Guatemala; she was a published author of a book entitled, “Kisatchie” and two plays.
